A Peru honeymoon should feel private because it is private: your party of two, your guide, no group that has to be at the ruins at 5:40 because that was the bus. The romance is the pace and the fact that nobody else is on your clock.
I'm Francisco Arriz Barrantes. I plan these trips from Lima. APOTUR certified, code AP030-11. I have been designing private journeys in Peru for over 22 years. You will not get a package called "honeymoon 7" with a heart on the cover.
A shape that works for two
- Lima, for a real dinner. Two nights if you can. Lima is where I book the table — a well-known dining room when that is the meal you asked for and the date still has it, or a quieter room when the point is each other and not a ranking. Those tables go weeks ahead.
- The Sacred Valley, for the first highland nights. You sleep lower than Cusco. The days are ruins, a market, and long lunches. Lodges here earn their place. I choose the property once I know the dates, not from a list frozen on this page.
- Machu Picchu, as a private tour. Your guide, your circuit, your time. I request a calmer slot when the calendar still has one. I cannot promise an empty citadel. I can promise you are not sharing a guide with thirty other people.
- The train, chosen on purpose. PeruRail and Inca Rail both run the line. A panoramic carriage is the scenic ride. The most comfortable train on the route is the right splurge for some couples. It is a train, not a private ruin.
Lake Titicaca is beautiful and it is a long transfer at 3,812 meters. On a honeymoon I add it only when you have the days and you want it. A week that tries to "complete Peru" is the opposite of a rest. The 10-day itinerary shows where the lake fits, and where I would cut it for the two of you.
What couples actually need me to know
- One room, and whether a quiet location matters more than a view. I ask the hotel. I do not promise a specific suite before the dates are real.
- One strong thing a day. The second ruin is how honeymoons become ordinary tours.
- Dietary needs, and whether a date on the trip is an anniversary or simply the trip itself. A cake in the room is easy. A fiction about dining inside Machu Picchu is not something I will sell you. It is not how the site works.
- How you feel about altitude. Cusco at about 3,400 meters is the thing that wrecks a romantic evening, not the logistics. We sleep lower first.
What I will not pretend
I will not tell you Machu Picchu will be private at sunrise in July. The entries are capped and timed. Book two to four months ahead, earlier in the dry season. If the hour you pictured is gone, I say so and we choose another hour that is still good.
The wider way these trips are built is on luxury private tours in Peru. The Spanish version of this page is luna de miel en Perú. Price on request. I answer within 24 hours. WhatsApp is +51 982 521 128.
Tell me the dates and how you like to travel. I'll design the days.
